Eco-friendly? How?
It is eco-friendly as most of my playground is made up of used cardboard. It is also made up of cotton and paper. This, will result to our playground being eco-friendly. We use these recycled materials so that we can convey the message of 'SAVE THE EARTH' to other people. We also use these recycled materials to show other people that we are capable of using the materials to build a playground for the emotionally abused children. Also, by using only recycled materials, we are helping earth to be a better place to live in. For example, recycled cardboard and paper. If we were to buy cardboard and paper, we would end up killing more trees! By just using used cardboard and used paper, we can at least, save a tree and stop it from being chopped down. Thus, this is how our playground is eco-friendly!
Link? Wheres the link between the novel and the design?
Our playground consists of wonderful features that are linked with the novel. We build up a treehouse, a bridge, an art room and a rope swing. For the treehouse, it represents the house that Jesse and Leslie had build up just for the both of them. Both of them kept that treehouse as a secret only between the both of them. As for the the bridge, we had built the bridge connecting to two of the treehouses. The bridge represents the door to get into Teribithia in the novel. For the art room, it represents Jesse's passion and talent for art. For the rope swing, it represents the rope swing that Jesse and Leslie used to get to Teribithia. This are all the wonderful features that are linked to the novel!
How does it help the children??!
For the treehouse, it enables the children to experience the feeling of having a home and they will be able to take this opportunity to make new friends. They will be able to have fun and bond with other children. For the bridge, the children will be able to have fun with the other children also. They can be able to create friendships with new children. As for the art room, children will be able to express their feelings and emotions in the art room due to their abuse that they have received from their parents. etc. The rope swing is built up to boost the children's confidence. As we all know that most children are afraid of heights, this can really increase their confidence level as the height from the the rope to the ground is quite high. Thus, this allows the emotionally abused children to overcome their fear of heights with the help of this rope swing!
